Using traditional Japanese lacquer art, Rei is a series of writing instruments beautifully decorated with Wajima Urushi (lacquer) known as Japan which is famous around the world. This Sailor Rei series, which consist of 3 fountain pens, is made in Kawari-nuri. Kawari-nuri is the collective name for experimental urushi coating techniques. Tam Nuri urushi finishing is one of the 3 urushi fountain pens.
Sailor Urushi Rei Wajima Tame Nuri Fountain Pen
It is new, M nib, comes with convertor, paper and box. It comes in Sailor old style 21k nib (see picture 3)
Tamenuri refers to a transparent, amber top layer that is applied multiple times over a red middle layer.
Under the influence of ultraviolet rays, the upper layer gradually brightens and, as a result, the middle layer becomes clearer.
The interaction between the gradually disappearing amber color and the red interlayer creates the color variation of the lacquer work.
The end result will never be a red pen but something in between.
